Why Mole Hollow Candles^®?

Color, texture, burning quality and commitment to our customer are what make Mole Hollow Candles^® special. We've worked 38 years to combine stunning brilliance with muted subtlety and we think we've succeeded. You won't find colors like ours anywhere else; a computer monitor cannot do them justice.

We've formulated different waxes for each candle we make, to bring out its finest qualities of appearance and burn, which we continually strive to improve.

Combining the perfect wax with the perfect wick in stunning colors sets Mole Hollow Candles^® apart.

Our Standard Taper candles and Half Taper candles feature our unique Spun Finish^®. This distinctive look creates a subtle texture that brings your eye into the color by simultaneously heightening and softening the hue. We created this special process twenty-five years ago in our continuing quest for the perfect taper candle.

Look at our Standard Taper up close and personal. We call this the "Dry Cup Burn"^TM. The wax and the wick work together. The cup stays dry, so no wax drips down the candle. The wick trims itself, so it doesn't smoke. Dripless and smokeless -- it sounds fairly simple, but how often do you see it? Mole Hollow Candles^® doesn't know how to make them any other way.

Don't you just hate it when a pillar candle drowns itself or burns through on one side? What you see here is a pillar candle burning perfectly. With our combination of the right wax and the right wick, our Evening^TM Candle burns wide and even, creating a soft, glowing cup and a pleasant scent evening after evening after evening.

Boy, talk about nit-picking! Our Votive candles are hand-poured, of course. Then, while the wax is cooling, we individually straighten every wick! This is followed by a final pour. Why? Because we want every candle we make to burn perfectly.

The People Behind the Products

Kathy is dipping 12" Standard Tapers. These are our most popular sized candles. Kathy has been with Mole Hollow since 1997 and is a precison craftsperson - creating batch after beautiful batch of candles.

Brian is packing a shipment - possibly yours! Our breakage during shipment last year was 1/2 of 1%, saving us all time and aggravation. There's no sense in producing beautiful candles if we can't get them to you intact.

Danielle and Stella are part of the team behind our Retail Store. Overlooking the Glacial Potholes, right down the street from the Famous Bridge of Flowers and downtown Shelburne Falls, our store is filled with our gorgeous candles, assorted holders, and gifts and crafts made locally and abroad. A factory-seconds store features incredible deals on candles that just don't meet our stringent standards - we've actually been told that our Seconds are better than some other candle companies' firsts!

Carol and Lee are pouring Votives. These candles, as do all of our candles, feature environmentally-friendly cotton wicking. They are hand poured, hand pulled, and each one is inspected prior to boxing to make sure they meet the quality standards expected of a Mole Hollow candle.

Greg is our Material Handler. His job is to move raw materials, supplies and finished product between our main facility and our offsite warehouse. Sometimes those behind-the-scenes get forgotten. Not so here at Mole Hollow. Everyone is a valued member of our team.

Kristian is also a taper dipper. The frame he's holding has 24 pairs of candles on it. A batch consists of 16 frames of candles and final production from a batch is 384 pairs of candles. Depending on a variety of factors, including room temperature and humidity, a batch can take 2 to 3 hours to dip.
